Ms. Suman Kumar is a pioneering thought leader in education who brings over 40+ years of experience in the implementation of quality educational programs. Her work has won her many accolades including International Women’s Day Medal for innovation in Education and Child Development by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in 1996, CBSE Teacher’s Award in 2004, the State Teacher’s Award by the Govt. of N.C.T of Delhi in 2012, and the National Teacher’s Day award in 2013 conferred by the President of India.
Ms. Kumar is a Fullbright Scholar, and an alumnus of Miranda House, Delhi University and Maharani Gayatri Devi School Jaipur. She joined Bluebells School International in 1981, and led the school as its Principal from 1990 - 2017 where she spearheaded its evolution as a pillar of quality education. As teacher, trainer, and mentor, Ms. Suman Kumar is deeply committed to the promotion of gender equality and peace through education and collaborates with renowned institutions such as WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) among others.
Her professional experiences are multifarious and diverse but she continues to be a lifelong learner, completing programs in Educational Inspection and Supervision and Educational Leadership from the University of London and Harvard University respectively. Ms. Kumar is driven in the mission to ensure that developing paradigms and contemporary reforms in education are implemented throughout the educational lifecycle.
Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath is currently Founder and Director of WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace), an initiative that seeks to promote the leadership of South Asian women in the areas of peace, security and regional cooperation. She is also Chair, Board of Governors, Centre for Policy Research (CPR) and Principal Emerita of Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi where she served as Principal for 26 years from 1988-2014. She has been a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC), India.
Dr. Gopinath was the first woman to serve as member of the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) of India. She is a member of multi-track peace initiatives and people-to-people dialogues in South Asia. She has authored among others Pakistan in Transition, and co-authored Conflict Resolution – Trends and Prospects, Transcending Conflict: A Resource book on Conflict Transformation and Dialogic Engagement and has contributed chapters and articles in several books and journals on Gandhi, the politics of Pakistan, the arts Conflict Resolution, Gender and Peace Building et al. Her interests include issues of human rights and gender, conflict transformation and Buddhist and Gandhian philosophy.
Dr. Gopinath serves on the Governing Boards of research institutes, NGOs, educational institutions and corporate bodies. She also is a member of the Nonviolent Peaceforce - International, on the Council of UPEACE – a UN Mandated University, Asian University for Women, Shri Ram Foundation, Track Two initiatives in the South Asian region, Editor in Chief, Peace Prints- A South Asian Journal of Peacebuilding, New Delhi, the Editorial Team, International Feminist Journal of Politics (IFJP) (Cardiff), Welham Girls School, Shri Ram School, Shiv Nadar School and others. She has been a Fulbright scholar and has received several fellowships including the Australian International Education Foundation Fellowship (1996-97) and the University Grants Commission Indo-Israel Exchange Fellowship (1994-1996) among others. She was Distinguished Visiting Scholar 2015, School of Social Sciences, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia and Honorary Adjunct Professor, La Trobe Asia, La Trobe University, Australia.
In recognition of her contribution to the field of women’s education and empowerment, she has received several awards including the Padma Shri Award, Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi Award, the Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence in Education, the Mahila Shiromani Award, the Delhi Citizen Forum Award and International Lifetime Achievement Award – 2009 for outstanding work in the field of justice, Equity, Peace and Progress among many others. She was also awarded an the Honorary Doctorate Degree of Letters (Honoris Causa) for significant contribution to the education of women and the commitment to fostering global peace through Conflict Resolution, La Trobe University, Australia, and the recipient of the Distinguished Alumna Award, by Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi for meritorious contribution in the field of Education and Nirbhaya Puraskar 2017.
Dr. Radhika Iyengar is a research scholar and the Director of Education at the Center for Sustainable Development, Earth Institute, Columbia university. Dr. Iyengar has been working in the field of environmental education for more than decade with NGOs and governments and has published in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Iyengar has extensive experience in designing and managing international education research projects in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. She has helped to design environmental education programs at the local level along with developing measurements and metrics frameworks to track learning outcomes. Her current research includes testing for high fluoride content in water sources in Central India. She recently won the prestigious Earth Frontiers grant at the Earth Institute, Columbia University. Her recent publication investigates community-based environmental factors to foster environmental education.
Dr. Iyengar received the prestigious Early Career Award from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2020. She is also the Chair of the Environmental and Sustainability Education Special Interest Group at the Comparative International Education Society.
Dr. Pinky Anand, a trustee of The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust is a designated Senior Advocate and former Additional Solicitor General (ASG) of India. A graduate of the Harvard Law School and Inlaks scholar, Dr. Anand is the second woman in India to have been awarded the constitutional Law office of the ASG. She is the Vice President of Bar Association of India, Alternate Country Councillor (India) LAWASIA, Chair ADR committee, and Governing Body Member of Indian Council of Arbitration. A prestigious alumni of Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, she excelled in academics while leading the student body as the first woman secretary of DUSU.
A versatile and multifaceted social activist, Dr. Anand has worked tirelessly for the cause of social development and has achieved numerous milestones in the development of the country, right of free speech, eradication of malpractices, and protection of children. Dr. Pinky Anand has been honoured with several awards for excellence in law and has led India in several international forums including the BRICS Legal Forum in Brazil, China, South Africa and the Shanghai Co-operation Organization Prosecutors’ General Meeting in Russia, and Tajikistan. Dr. Anand is a Trustee of the Partition Museum and has authored such books as “Trials of Truth”.
Dr. Renu Singh has been Country Director of Young Lives India since 2010. A trained Montessorian and special educator, her interests include early childhood development, gender, equity and inclusion. She has over twenty-six years of teaching experience in general and special education, teacher education, early childhood development, policy analysis and research both in India and abroad.
Her previous posts held include Director of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Delhi and Director of Save the Children India. Dr. Singh is a governing body member of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a member of the Working Group for formulating the National Policy on Early Childhood Care & Education, a member of the Joint Review Missions, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), as well as a member of Expert Committees in Government Institutions such as the Rehabilitation Council of India. Dr. Singh is currently a Visiting Professor to Jamia Millia Islamia University.
Dr. Usha Sharma, is Professor and In-charge, National Center for Literacy Cell and Coordinator Program, for Promotion of Basic Literacy and Number Comprehension (FLN), at NCERT, New Delhi. Her areas of Specialization is Language Education including Psycholinguistics Early Literacy Early Childhood Care & Elementary Education along with Audio-Visual Education
In addition to contributing to the teaching materials prepared by NCERT, she has contributed exhaustively to teacher-education curriculum of various states, curriculum for school education and curriculum for elementary education her role in the prized ‘Nipun Bharat’ program of the Government of India, a campaign for children to learn reading, writing and numeracy at the basic level deserves a special mention.
Dr Usha Sharma is a member of the editorial board of the Journal 'Indian Modern Education' published and the Academic Editor of the Journal 'Primary Teacher' and children’s magazine ‘Firki’ by NCERT. She is also a member of Committee on Resource Material-Production and Review related to Early Literacy and has prepared study material both for NCERT and B.Ed Program of various Universities (Indira Gandhi National Open University, Allahabad.
Language teaching, early literacy, children's literature, value-based education are her areas of interest and her passion to make learning and teaching of children interesting and purposeful through various formal and informal forums must be experienced to understand.
Dr. Venita Kaul is Professor Emerita (Education) at Ambedkar University Delhi from where she retired in 2016 as Director of School of Education Studies and Founder Director of the Center for Early Childhood Education and Development (CECED). Prior to this Prof Kaul was a Senior Education Specialist in The World Bank after having served as Professor and Head of Department of Preschool and Elementary Education at NCERT.
She has been a member and advisor on several Government Committees, Steering Group of Asia Pacific Regional Network for ECD, International Forum for Investing in the Young Child and on Boards of several NGOs working in the area of Education. Prof Kaul has a PhD from I.I.T. Delhi in Psychology and has several national and international publications in the area of Early Education to her credit. She brings with her over 35 years of experience, research and expertise.
Dr. Kamiya Kumar has had over 12 years of experience of working closely with students of diverse abilities, age groups and experiences to optimize effective learning. She has completed a PhD in Peace Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
As a Teacher, Curriculum Specialist and Counselor, Kamiya designs multi-modal learning environments with the long-term goal of developing highly motivated, independent, and passionate learners. With an Ed.M. in Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia University, Kamiya has specialized in employing curricular tools and pedagogical approaches to inculcate skills for fostering exceptional academic, cognitive, social-emotional, inter and intrapersonal, and occupational advancement.
Prior to Columbia, she completed an MSc in Social and Cultural Psychology from London School of Economics. She has worked in school contexts across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia and applies cross-cultural learning to innovatively address challenges faced by students.
Mr. Kayhan brings over 10 years of diverse experience in learner-centered design and was responsible for the planning and implementation of Columbia University’s award-winning blended Masters of Science program.
An engineer by background, Kayhan specializes in the integration of technology in curriculum and instruction across contexts and brings a wealth of experience across industries both for-profit and non-profit.
Kayhan holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Media from Teachers College, Columbia University with research interests in building communities of practice, leveraging learning analytics, and implementing educational games.
Mrs. Indu Ghai has been an educator at Bluebells School International for 41 years. A motivated and organized guide and facilitator, she is the backbone of the founding team of the school. Mrs. Ghai believes in creating collaborative and cooperative environments for all stakeholders and continues to spearhead myriad student welfare activities at the institution.
Mrs. Indu Ghai has engaged with diverse roles and responsibilities both as an educator and an administrator. Under the guidance of the leadership of the Bluebells Educational Society, she has been supervising Blossoms Playschool at Sarita Vihar, New Delhi since 2013.
Mrs. Ghai is a firm believer that every child is unique. She strives to create an environment for young toddlers that is a home away from home to instill early childhood experiences embedded in the philosophy of one planet the Earth, one family humankind.
Dr. Robert A. Cox Jr. is a licensed psychologist, scholar, and educator with over 15 years working at the intersection of education and psychology. He has previously served as an elementary and middle school Spanish and English literacy educator, as a teaching assistant for undergraduate and graduate students at Columbia University, and as an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi. He has also worked in NYC public hospitals such as Bellevue, Harlem Hospital, and Albert Einstein School of Medicine. He is currently the Director of Training and a Supervising Psychologist for Dwellness Psychological Services, a therapy private practice in New York City, and Supervisor for Organizational Tutors, an executive functioning tutoring company also based in New York City. He additionally provides psychotherapy to individuals across the lifespan through his own private practice.
Dr. Cox has extensive experience designing and implementing curriculum and psychological interventions aimed to increase emotional literacy, promote psychological well-being, and enhance overall executive functions for children, adolescents, and adults. He is particularly interested in research and practice focused on meeting the diverse needs of children with complex learning and emotional profiles.
Dr. Cox holds a dual B.A. in English Literature and Hispanic Linguistics from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, a M.A. in Psychology and Education and a M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Ms. Tiffany Williams holds over 14 years of experience in youth development where she has been committed to helping youngsters take up space, find their voices, and become ethical decision-makers. She has trained award-winning theatre groups in Africa and has worked with youth in over 12 countries using evidence-based, culturally-responsive, and decolonized approaches. Her work centers on inclusive practices and accessibility to accommodate students’ neurodiverse, socio-emotional, and executive functioning needs.
Tiffany is a New York State-certified special and general education teacher. She earned her M.A. in Intellectual Disability/Autism (Childhood Level) at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Outside of academics, Tiffany has a background in international development and non-profit program management. She is also a certified yoga instructor.
With over ten years of experience in US classrooms as a public school educator, Lauren Lutz-Coleman provides invaluable inputs to Blossoms’ literacy programs. As the Director of Education at Shoelace Learning, she is overseeing content development strategy, that brings together her interests in both literacy development and educational technology. For an avid reader like her, there’s no better work than helping others learn to unpack good stories.
