Job Description:

The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for providing comprehensive care, guidance, and education to young learners, utilizing play-based, and structured learning approaches. This position focuses on creating a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth of each child. It involves close collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other educators to support each child’s development in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about early education and child development and are aspiring to create a strong foundation for young children’s lifelong learning and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Planning and Implementing Age-Appropriate Curriculum:
    1. Design and implement a curriculum that incorporates language, motor skills, sensory activities, and social-emotional development.
    2. Use play-based learning techniques and structured activities to support holistic development.
    3. Use inquiry-based, experiential, and hands-on activities to facilitate learning experiences.
  2. Creating a Positive Learning Environment:
    1. Foster a safe, warm, and inclusive classroom where children feel valued and encouraged to explore.
    2. Establish routines and structure that support children’s sense of security and independence.
    3. Use inquiry-based, experiential, and hands-on activities to facilitate learning experiences.
  3. Assessing and Monitoring Child Development:
    1. Observe and document children’s progress, noting developmental milestones and areas needing additional support.
    2. Conduct regular assessments and share insights with parents, offering guidance on how they can support development at home.
  4. Supporting Social and Emotional Development:
    1. Help children develop essential social skills, such as sharing, cooperation, and empathy.
    2. Manage and guide behaviors in a positive and nurturing way, using ageappropriate methods for conflict resolution and emotional regulation.
  5. Communicating with Families:
    1. Maintain open, regular communication with parents or guardians about their child’s progress and well-being.
    2. Provide guidance and resources to families on early childhood development and how to foster learning at home.
  6. Ensuring Health, Safety, and Hygiene Standards:
    1. Follow all protocols for maintaining a clean, safe environment and manage health risks such as allergies.
    2. Encourage hygiene practices, like handwashing, and oversee snack and mealtimes in line with safety standards.
  7. Collaborating with Team Members:
    1. Work with teaching assistants, support staff, and other educators to ensure a consistent approach to each child’s development.
    2. Participate in professional development opportunities and stay informed on best practices in early childhood education.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualification: Master’s degree in early childhood education/child development or a related field, or equivalent experience in an early education setting. Minimum Qualification (Bachelors)
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in a childcare or early education setting.
  • Skills: Patience, empathy, creativity, excellent communication, strong observational skills and being open to feedback.
